SPOT Mission Statement
Stopping Pet Overpopulation
Society, Inc. (S.P.O.T. Society, Inc.) is an alliance of animal lovers, dog/cat
rescuers and veterinarians working together to reduce the number of animals
impounded and exterminated in Atlanta area shelters by: Targeted geographical areas for spay/neuter programs include the metro Atlanta area and rural communities with no low-cost spay/neuter resources. b. providing community education/counseling services to individuals regarding the effects of pet overpopulation on the community, the benefits of spay/neuter, tenets of responsible pet guardianship and the importance of pet identification c. promoting companion animal adoption through our web site www.petorphans.com The numbers of dogs and cats
that are killed every year in Atlanta area shelters is staggering --- around
90,000 per year. However, the shelters should not to be blamed for
this problem...the problem lies solely with the general public who are
forcing the shelters to clean up their "messes". Please SPOT has no paid employees and all contributions will go directly towards funding programs that will help reduce the numbers of pets that are killed in Atlanta area shelters. SPOT especially needs contributions for the SPOT Spay/Neuter Fund, which pays 100% of the price of the spay/neuter(s) for pet guardians who can not afford to pay for the surgery for their pets themselves if they do not qualify for any other programs.
